Central Machine Works was originally a steel machinery shop called Capital Machine Works. It was open from 1940 to 2016. In transforming CMW into a brew pub that incorporates a versatile beer hall, intimate tap room and outdoor beer garden, we have worked diligently to preserve the original history and aesthetic of the space.

In 2016, and Andrew Ashmore, Rosa Santis, and John Scott (owner of the popular Austin music venue, Stubb's) purchased Central Machine Works, hoping to create a German-style beer hall and an outdoor garden that encouraged a stay-a-while mentality.
